On one of the guide page, i read that you have recommended adding detergent or cleaning lotion in tray water. What’s the purpose of this? does it make any difference in drop formation?

It changes the viscosity of the water and this changes the surface tension and this gives taller but thinner Worthington Jets. Too much can screw things up…

This is something you really need to experiment with. A tiny amount of some detergents can make a difference, large amounts of other detergents have little effect.

Having said the above, If you are just starting you will get better results adding guar gum or xanthan gum to the drop liquid. I use 1 level teaspoon to 1 litre, mixed in a blender, strained, and then dilute as I use it.

Where do you add detergent or rinse aid? In drop liquid battle or bottom tray water?

The detergent goes in the bottom tray.
